115: Wayne Pernell - Curious George Speaks Significance
08/08/2017 Duração: 43min"Your best self is not static. You are in a relationship with yourself and you change." Wise words from my guest Dr. Wayne Pernell. His first book, Choosing Your Power, my copy is quite dog-eared, sets the tone for his latest book, The Significance Factor. What am I here for? Why did I wake up today? How do I define success? How do significance and failure relate? These are only a few questions Wayne poses on the show. Yes we answer how you can find your own personal answers to those questions. Beyond those questions though we talk about how to discover your own true values, why they are important to write down and how to then live them, authentically in all aspects of your life. One of my favorite parts of this interview was the Threshold Trigger exercise Wayne walks us through on the show. It is a brilliant piece of work that can immediately snap you out of whatever role, limiting belief or mood you are in. Wayne shares how being Dr. Pernell was not allowing him to be who he really is. We look at how he shif

114: Roger Wernow - Is Your Medical Data Safe?
27/07/2017 Duração: 42minWhat does HIPAA mean? Why does it seem to be implemented differently at each medical office you go to? Can they refuse to give you your medical information in a timely manner? What MUST they give you and when? Can you be charged to get it? What can a medical provider never do with your medical information? I caregive for my mom and am in doctor's offices and hospitals frequently. I am appalled by the documents I am required to sign and how they vary from one office to another. It is also a problem of staff training. I recently was asked to sign a form that would give permission for the office to give out my contact info and other information to essentially anyone they wanted (3rd party affiliates, doctors, billing companies and others was the phrasing). They grouped the doctor under there and said if we do not sign the doctor cannot call me even about results and the staff cannot call me about appointments. Is that allowed? My guest helped draft the law that became HIPAA here in the United States and is the l

113: Wendy Lipton-Dibner - Creating Viral Influence
19/07/2017 Duração: 42minBe a goal digger. Not a gold digger. That was the thought that came to mind while I was prepping for this interview. Most business people want to create that viral thing that creates interest, gets your name out, in a good way, and hopefully increases revenue. But how do you do it? What are they key things to look out for? How do you do it with Ethical Influence? How do you achieve your goals and earn income? Ethical influence is something we all need to be thinking about. Every time you post something or say something you are influencing events. That influence can be a positive one or not so positive. When you are building a brand you have choices to make as to what your brand is all about, what changes your brand will drive and how you and your company will be remembered. Every action you and your employees take and make affects your influence. Impact and influence are two sides of a coin that are tightly woven together and can create or destroy your business and brand. So how do you Focus on Impact AND in

111: Gary Govanus - Geek to Cruise Guru!
14/07/2017 Duração: 40minI have not taken a vacation since 2010. That is not something I am proud of. It is just how things have gone. I have been on business trips to speaking gigs and conferences but no vacation time where you unplug and recharge. Am I feeling that lack of recharge, away from my routine? Yes. Do I want to go away? Yes. Do I see how I can do that easily while caring for my mom? No. Vacations have been proven to increase productivity, lower stress and improve health yet so many of us don't take trips and when we do they just don't live up to our expectations or the hype we have heard about that particular trip. My guest today is a long-time friend who I met when I started my first company and he still is one of my mentors in life. He left the geek world and now helps people take vacations. What I love is he asks lots of questions of his clients BEFORE he ever books them on a trip. Why? So he can make sure that he can provide them the best vacation they can possibly have. You see, vacations are not so simple for most

110: Diane DiResta - Creating your Speaking Sandwich
30/06/2017 Duração: 41minPicture the audience naked. Wondering what I am talking about? Next to death it is rated as the top fear for people. Still not certain? Public Speaking is what I am talking about and picturing the audience naked is a strategy often suggested to minimize the fear reaction. Does it work though? Is there a better way? How do you put together a speech, presentation or workshop that captivates the audience and most of all moves them to take action of some sort? Is there a better way to setup a room? What is a Speaking Sandwich and can you get it in a NYC deli? One of the things I do that makes me money is deliver keynote speeches, workshops and webinar-style keynotes. People say I make it look easy. It is not. Yes, I speak from the heart yet my perfectly scripted plans are rarely delivered as planned but there is a lot of prep that enables me to do that. My mom says I was born with a mic in my hand. For the average person, that is not their truth. My guest has written a compendium, I do love that word, for speakin

108: Bobbi Govanus - Failure as a Starting Point
22/06/2017 Duração: 43minFailure is not the end. You have probably heard that before and on some level you believe it. On another, you are embarrassed, ashamed or maybe even feel a bit humiliated by a recent failure or a string of failures that played out on a public or semi-public stage. I know I have bounced back from some failures quickly and been paralyzed by some of them for a long time. What enables some people to bounce right back from a failure? Why does failure not seem to get them down at all? Or at least on the surface not get them down? Is it resiliency? Is it determination? Is it genetic? After my divorce a few years ago I lost my nerve to be in public and speak and write new books. I was ashamed. Rather than be spurred forward to seek others I went inward. And not in a good way. So how could I have realized what was happening sooner and broken free and out and up? My guest today has written and complied stories on failure and how it launched the writers to whole other levels of success. On this episode she shares what s

09/06/2017 Duração: 43minBet you did not realize Harry Potter is a sniper? Part of that revamp was figuring out how to train observation and Total Focus into the training. You think it is hard to focus when you are at your desk. Picture

106: Carmen Torres - HR for every business
06/06/2017 Duração: 42minHuman Resources, commonly known as HR gets frequently ridiculed on TV shows . Think Big Bang Theory when Sheldon and the gang get called on the carpet for their behavior. Yet, HR is critical to your business' success. Why? Because it sets the policies for what is allowed and what is not allowed at your business. Properly executed HR takes the "grey" out of your policies and provides clarity to employees. Vacations, medical leave, dress codes, technology policies even how to answer the telephone and interactions with clients can be misinterpreted by employees. For years Disney had a policy of no facial hair for men. There were several others as well. This was clearly explained BEFORE someone was hired and they signed and attested they knew it on hiring. This PREVENTED issues from occurring. But how do you know what is required by law, not allowed by law and how to handle employee issues when you don't have the funds for a full-time HR department? Enter Carmen Torres, founder of My HR Specialist. Carmen shares

22/03/2017 Duração: 43minBreathing seems like it should be a natural and automatic thing yet so many of us shallow breath, hold our breath without realizing it or just in general don't do a full breath. There are over 200 different kinds of breathing that can transform your health, your focus, your life. Many of us are familiar with the panting breathing that pregnant women are taught to help them through childbirth. We may have heard of fire breath. If you saw the movie The Hulk, with Edward Norton, you saw that breath in action while he is training to control the triggers that turn him into the Hulk. Do we really need to learn how to breath? My guest on this episode is Swami Anjani. She shares with us some of the 42 types of breathing detailed in First Breath, Last Breath by Ma Jaya Sati Bhagavait, founder of Kashi and Kali Natha Yoga. We do an actual breathing exercise on the radio, and I have a major reaction to it! So settle in for this episode in a comfortable place and remember, In, Out. In Out. Breathe in. Breath out. Oh yeah

96: Jim Palmer - Decide - The Ultimate Success Trigger
17/03/2017 Duração: 42minDecide. A short word that has the power to immobilize you to great heights or immobilize you to no action. I call that last version analysis paralysis! My guess calls the place where you decide not to decide Squishyville. It is there that businesses, and even people, can get derailed in achieving their goals. Not making a decision does not remove the need to make one. What it does do is prevent forward motion. When you are creating your dream business lots of questions come up that require decisions to be made over and over again. How do you know which decisions are critical? When should you be perfect? (this is a trick question!)? How does imposter syndrome affect decision making? Is there ever a time not to make a decision? My guest today is living his dream business and even has his daughter as a paying client. If you want to create your own dream business don't miss this episode! Jim Palmer is a marketing and business building expert and in demand coach. He is the founder of the Dream Business Academy and
