19/07/2016 Duração: 08minMajor trends are in motion that will render the global LNG industry very different in 10 years time from what it looked like 10 years ago. To quote Sun Tzu, from time to time it's helpful to take a close up view of things distant and a distant view of things up close to prepare for the future. What will the LNG industry look like in a decade? Duration: 8m 51s

49 - How quickly will solar power technology displace fossil fuels?
15/06/2016 Duração: 09minNot very quickly, if the math is right. The installed base of existing fossil fuel consumption is so vast that it will take decades to replace it all. We don't even have the technology yet for some kinds of fuel need (air travel for example). I'm not advocating that we retain fossil fuels, but at the same time, halting them in their tracks is a sure fire way to cause riots or financial market chaos. Duration: 8m 10s

48 - Could a Merger of Queensland's #LNG Projects Work?
31/05/2016 Duração: 08minIs a tie up of the LNG projects in Queensland something to consider? I wondered about this when I heard that one of Queensland's LNG industry executives and some investment bankers were in the media speculating about the possibility of the LNG projects combining forces. Arguably the landscape is shifting already since Royal Dutch Shell has acquired QGC (one of the three LNG projects), and has a 50% interest in another large gas project, Arrow Energy. Episode 43 - Obama, U.S. Oil Exports and LNG: More Pain for Longer
26/04/2016 Duração: 09minI was very surprised recently by the fresh US Congress and Presidential approval to reinstate crude oil exports from the US. Episode 39 - Transforming Gladstone
22/03/2016 Duração: 25minOn March 17, I was invited to present to the Gladstone Engineering Alliance at an event dedicated to showcasing the supply chain capabilities of the membership. The essence of my remarks are that: Australia has made a far reaching decision to support natural gas exports driven by demand from China. The projects are moving into steady state operations Our villain is the crude oil market that has taken a dramatic fall in price The global LNG industry has been overturned in its wake To survive and thrive, Gladstone needs to do three things. First, promote the interaction between its value chains (gas, coal, biomass, bauxite). Second, adopt technologies to help take out cost and improve productivity. Third, become factory-like in all aspects of work. As only one in ten LNG projects will proceed, Gladstone has a large lead over other exporting cities and will be able to expand in the future.
