Love Sober Podcast 71 Tools 20/3/20
20/03/2020 Duração: 59minIn this episode we talk more about tools and practices to support sobriety, mental health and wellbeing during challenging times. Using our B.A.L.A.N.C.E.D.™ model we explore our ideas and practices for thriving and coping with challenges. These are dear to our heart and they have come from the gentle enquiry (or total freak out) of early sobriety as we suddenly think " What the F am I actually doing ???? and how the FFFF do I do it' They are backed up by our studies in The Science of Happiness, training as coaches, private study, the hive mind of the sober community and from walking the walk since we began our sober journeys 7 years ago. Body: nutrition, somatics, physical exercise, caring for our physical selves. Awe: Practices that connect us to something greater- nature, community, the night sky, ritual or wonder. Love: Ourselves, self care practice, self-compassion, compassion, loved ones, what we love. Alignment: Works with our 'why' our values which tend to surface in sobriety as we can hear the

Love Sober Podcast 66 Guest: Sam Quinlan 14/02/2020
14/02/2020 Duração: 01h12minThis week on the pod we are delighted to welcome Sam Quinlan, Founder of ICAAD. Sam is a real sobershero having worked in the field of mental health, addiction and recovery for many years. Samantha once dreamed of being a performer; however a un-nurturing culture back in the 80s saw her being stigmatised as fat, and unsuitable to be a performer, after a performing arts school misused her vocal abilities, and she suffered from overused vocal cords, that ruined her voice and prospective career in musical theatre. She went on to train at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in production and stage management, and In the 1990s she began her mission to provide for others a nourishing and safe environment for creatives and those that had something to say, unlike her experience which left her full of shame and the burden of failure. Samantha founded the Brighton & Hove Fringe Festival, a yearly festival promoting talent and desire through arts, sports and outreach activities to include families and young people,

Love Sober Podcast 65 Self Love 06/02/20
07/02/2020 Duração: 57minThis week’s podcast we talk about Self Love. It’s not easy to deconstruct the process of where we are now and where we were. To that place of deep self loathing and crippling low self worth. To both be able to say, I love myself and I am my own best friend. For us the catalyst is and always has been stopping drinking that fundamental decision of self love, the consistency it has brought, the self-trust and pride is for us the key to self love. We talk about how guided meditation and working with a therapist can help, letting go of Shame and watching out for proof of the things we do well. So grab a cuppa and let’s chat. Love Sober Podcast 64 Mothering 31/01/20
31/01/2020 Duração: 45minThis episode maybe what you technically call a rant lols. We just had to get something out and that’s Mum shaming. It’s happened to so many of us, everyone seems to have an opinion about mothers, and everything seems to be laid at our doors, attachment, our kids mental health, mothers are under enormous pressure and we are trying our best to get it right, but what if there are huge gaps in this conversation? What if the conversation needs an update? What if what modern mothers need is support? We know how impactful childhoods can be, but how about shifting to focus on everyone’s role? Societies role? How about women supporting women, and us moving towards a narrative that puts mothers in the firing line. This is very much an opinion piece, but it’s our story and we don’t think we’re alone. So apologies for the swears, grab a cuppa and let’s chat. He has made it his life mission to spread the word about the benefits of an alcohol-free life and has helped thousands of people change their relationship with drinking. 01/11/2019 Duração: 48minThis week on the pod we discuss what to say to people about stopping drinking. We discuss some of our own experiences and how you can use different techniques within your expanding social circle.
