Howdy Hope all is well with you and you’re all staying safe This is my tribute to Madlib, one of the best Hip Hop producers to ever do it imo. Back in the late 90’s me and mate Rees used to make each other mixtapes. We’d try and one up each other by finding mint tunes that other the one hadn’t heard. So spent a lot of time buying underground Hip Hop cd’s. We stumbled on an album called Superrappin’, the stand out track being New Years Resolution by Lootpack. Had never heard of them before but was impressed with a producer that would take on a Preemo sample. Their album Soundpieces : Da Antidote followed and the rest is history. The Cocteau Twins, Elizabeth Fraser, Simon Raymonde and Robin Guthrie, one of my favourite groups of all time. Formed in Scotland in 1979 and disbanded in 1997. How to describe them, labelled as Goths initially, dream pop, shoe gaze, ethereal, none of these fully explain their greatness or sound imo. Too hard to pigeonhole, a truly unique band. If there is such a place as heaven and it doesn't sound like Elizabeth Fraser I'm not sure I'd want to go. Probably better if I let their music do the talking for me. Had been a massive fan of his music from the KMD days but it was really when he created the DOOM persona he hit genius levels imo. A totally unique artist who will be greatly missedFor this tribute I went deep into his catalogue, featuring music by all his personas, DOOM, Viktor Vaughn and King Geedorah, and some of my favourite guest appearances, working with other artists.
