Twenty episodes ago I started this podcast in hopes to share some cool music with anyone who wanted to listen. Twenty episodes isn't exactly a whole lot, and I try to release them whenever I get the chance. But every one of those shows are full of awesome bands and songs I've come to discover, and in a way, rediscover in the past year. I'm hoping by listening to these episodes, you will find a new band or song you've never heard of before and then maybe share them with your friends and support the bands who release these songs. For me, it's all about supporting the local scene. And here's to hoping you feel the same way.       This episode features seven new tracks from seven awesome bands. They recently played Bled Fest out in their home state. The lineup featured lots of fantastic bands including, Norma Jean, The Chariot, Every Time I Die, Such Gold, Former Theives and many others. Sorry Baby are a 4 piece hardcore post-punk unit from California. They released a second EP, Skin to Skin, earlier this year. Download the episode here.       Great new tunes on this episode. The opening slot is a track from Invasives titled, If I Was You. I featured another track from their album, Desk Job at Castle Dracula, on the Top 25 show. Invasives just recently finished a tour across Canada. They played shows all through out April and half of May. More shows are set for June as well. Check out their website for more details. Also on the show, Muerte Y Destruccion, a three piece from Madrid, Spain. This trio plays really sweet pop-punk tunes. Their album, La Casa de Fieras, is saturated with it. Awesome stuff. Download it from their bandcamp. Good Men Die Like Dogs are a punk band from Arizona with a few records out. Some new music is in the works, but they have a bunch of tunes all ready available on their website. Good, catchy punk rock from AZ. Also with some fine punk tunes are Neckties

At the beginning of this month, I got to see a bunch of my favorite bands play, three of them coming out of retirement for one day. It was a blast. The last time I got to see Unit 101 play was 26 years and 1 day ago, opening up for blink-182, Fenix Tx and Less than Jake. The last time I saw Olivia the Band was likely a Battle of the Bands at Pipeline in the early 2000's. And Potluck was just a couple years ago for the Ryan Potes Fundraiser show. But that was my first time seeing them ever (not counting the rehersals I saw at work *cheee). Area-M and Grapefruit are just so lovely as always, I think the last time I saw them was at Sailor Jerry Fest in June. What a wonderful night. The Caballerials played Audio Feed this year! That looked like a lot of fun. Sacramento, California's, Journal, be writing tunes on and off. What started off as one track here then another track there became a full release titled, The Eternal Death of Concious Expression. A couple cool things. Rufio's first album, Perhaps, I Suppose... turned 25 this year and the band re-recorded Dipshit. The band will also be releasing new music through Double Helix Records. Really great sounding band, they have an LP available here and also on bandcamp. They also have a show coming up on May 31 in Sanger, California. Check out their facebook or the Shows section for details. Also on the episode is Kill the Masses from Las Vegas, Nevada, who are now going by the name Aechoes. They too have a show coming up, on May 28. Check out the Shows section for more details. The band is currently working on new material. On a lot of the episodes, I tend to close with a clip from the song, Bones, by No History of Violence. This is a band that I used to play with in La Grande, Oregon. Some really great times with these guys. We played tons of shows in La Grande with some pretty cool bands, both local and out of town.

From the Vault: Episode #17 of the Taking the Lead Media Podcast. Original release date: 04/21/2011.  "April 21, 2011 - Episode 17 is finally up for streaming here. The episode is also available for download here.       I wanted to play some music by a couple bands that were on previous episodes. On this episode is another track from Social Concern's album, Cut and Dry (2010). That album appeared on the Top 25 of 2010 list. It's a great album. Also on the episode is another track from Crookedhook, this time from their first full-length record, All We Got (2007). They have a bunch of shows in the works. The other bands that appear on the episode are The Rusty Trombones, Still Alive and Broken Spokes. The Rusty Trombones come from Ontario, Canada and play some pretty tight punk and ska. You can also download the episode here.       This episode is another ska themed show. Opening the podcast is a band from Vancouver, BC, called Rude City Riot. They're a six-piece that plays some sweet power-ska. A new album is currently set to be released soon. Here more of their tunes here. Another sweet track from Big D and the Kids Table from their album, How It Goes. They too have a new album coming out this year. Exit 24 was a ska band from the island of Oahu. I never got to see those guys play, but rocked their EP, Read...Break!, all throughout high school. I think some members went on to play in other local island ska bands. Stuck Lucky comes from Nashville, TN. Awesome stuff.
