This week on the CyclingTips podcast... Ineos dominated the Volta a Catalunya, sweeping the general classification podium. There were also three WorldTour one-days for the men and two for the women. All five of the races featured interesting tactical choices by many of the top teams. For Nerd Nuggets, James gets into Enve's new bike frames.

We kick off this week's show with a breakdown of Milan-San Remo and Trofeo Binda, including Ineos curious tactics at the former and Trek's fantastic tactics at both.  Then, James digs into a new pedal-based power meter from Garmin that is SPD compatible, meaning it'll work for your mountain or gravel bike. 

In the latest of our deep-dives with the people behind new products, we sit down with Chip Hawkins, the founder of Wahoo, and Ian Boswell, a former WorldTour pro and now Wahoo athlete, to talk through the company's acquisition of Speedplay, their plans for a power meter, and how they've improved the pedals themselves. This week on the CyclingTips podcast... The whole crew is still excited about the men's and women's races at Strade Bianche over the weekend. Italian racing wasn't the only action, however. More women are finding cycling, the joy and the freedom that accompanies hopping on a bike and taking off on an adventure. What continues to bring more women to cycling is the community, the friendships that develop around the bike. To get a sense of where the cycling industry stands when it comes to female-identifying cyclists Abby chatted with two women who are immersed in the industry. Elorie Slater, marketing manager of Pivot Cycles, has put a lot of thought into how to get more female-identifying riders on bikes. Through her experience at her bike shop and within the marketing world of cycling she has connected with other cycling companies to put aside their differences and band together to make cycling a more inclusive and welcome environment. This week on the CyclingTips podcast... There was a lot of races to discuss, between the Opening Weekend in Belgium, a small race in France, and the finale of the UAE Tour. Dane and Abby debate the best transfer of the women's peloton. For this week's Nerd Nugget segment James called up Jamie Milroy of DASH in the UK to talk about their bike subscription program. The concept of leasing instead of buying a bike is one that has been discussed on the podcast before, so we dive into it a little deeper. 

This week on the CyclingTips Podcast... Dane breaks down the Tour des Alpes Maritimes et du Var and the UAE Tour, Abby has a few thoughts on the suspension of former Health Mate - Cyclelive team manager Patrick van Gansen, and we are all excited about Tao Geoghegan Hart's action towards diversifying the sport by funding a stagiaire spot on the Hagens Berman Axeon team. Mike Better calls up Nelson Vails, retired professional road and track cyclist for the USA and the first Black cyclist to win an Olympic medal, to chat about diversity in cycling.  Finally, for or this week's Nerd Nuggets James talks about SRAM's purchase of Time pedals and what that might mean for the future of pedal-based power meters from the American component manufacturer. On the CyclingTips podcast this week we discuss Tour de la Provence, the Bernal vs. Alaphilippe race up Mont Ventoux, and Clasica de Almeria.  James has a thing or two to say about the response to Kevin Hart riding a road bike, more specifically, cyclists response to Kevin Hart's on-bike style. Caley and James finally have an outlet to debate whether or not we should all be waxing our chains.  And finally, in the newly renamed tech segment, James breaks down the new e-bike act in congress.  In the podcast James mentions a way to help the e-bike bill move along, details can be found here. 

This week on the CyclingTips podcast... Dane breaks down the news including Étoile de Bessèges and the new UCI rules. Opinions differ regarding the ban of the "super tuck". Matt de Neef makes a surprise guest appearance to talk about the Australian National Championships.  Instead of a debate this week Caley, Ronan, and Shoddy respond in-real-time to Chris Froome's bike review, especially his take on disc brakes. And for Nerd Alert, Ronan chatted with Robert Chung about cheating on Zwift. Can Zwift ever be a reputable form of competition? Chung has some thoughts.

This week on the CyclingTips podcast Jose talks everyone through Cyclocross Worlds and Dane breaks down EF's new kit as well as an actual road race that took place and races that will not happen. Shoddy squares off against James in this week's debate, mechanical vs. electronic shifting, please vote for the winner here.  For "Nerd Alert", James calls upon you, the listeners, to help find a new name for this tech news segment. He then mentions the damage salt water can do to a bike, a relevant concern given cyclocross worlds, Shimano's wireless plans, and Decathlon's secondhand store. 

On this week's CyclingTips podcast there is a lot to discuss. After briefly discussing the impact Brexit is having on the cycling industry in an earlier episode of the CyclingTips podcast, Shoddy, Abby, and Ronan do a bit of a deeper dive into Brexit and bikes.  First, Ronan spoke with Tony Connelly, European Editor for RTÉ News and Current Affairs, to go over the nuts and bolts of the situation. Next, Shoddy caught up with Joe Laverick, CyclingTips contributor and professional cyclist for Hagens Berman AXEON, who is currently navigating how he will get to Europe to race.  And finally, Ronan talked to Myles McCorry of Galibier, a cycling clothing brand out of Northern Ireland, to see how the new rules have impacted business.

José breaks down all the cyclocross that happened over the holidays, and James discusses the impact of Brexit on the bike industry in the U.K. 

In this, the final episode of 2020, the CyclingTips Podcast crew get together to discuss the great and the not-so-great of what was, in general, a fantastic bike racing season...you know...minus the COVID.
