Creative Riding EP015 - How To Knit A Scarf
08/03/2016 Duração: 01h25minHello all! Sorry this episode is so late being delivered. I felt like utter shit. I started the recording not feeling that bad due to the help of some medication, but things quickly went south. Then I went out of town for the weekend. I took my podcasting gear with me in hopes of getting the show out still, but I literally went to a barn raising. The manual labor wiped me out since I was already not feeling well, and I was asleep before the local hipsters even got ready to go out for the night. I started recording this episode Thursday, when it was sunny and 80 degrees. Today was Monday and it poured, and it included some thunder and lightning. So, for what it’s worth, my sincerest apologies. Tire swappin’: Playing with tires is a little bit like playing with your lover: You need to get them warmed up before hand. Always use a little lube and a little protection. Do a bit of prying and pulling in all the right places, and Voila!!-mutual satisfaction and smiles all around. Or you can go in like a sado-maso

Creative Riding Ep 014 - Technisode!
28/02/2016 Duração: 01h23minWelcome to Episode 14!!! This episode is brought to you by generous donations from listeners like you. Maybe… maybe not. In this episode we are looking forward to bringing you some technical information in as short a time frame as possible. There is no way to cover all the technical information that comprises your motorcycle in one hour. We’re going to start out with some simple things that are overlooked more often than they are checked. In an effort to progress down a logical path (for once!) we’ll start with your chain and end up with your death. WHOA! What the!? Yeah… you’ll see Beginning with your chain, we explain what those numbers on the package are saying about your chain. When you are looking to buy a replacement chain there is a series of numbers that appear that describe the qualities of the chain. The number sequence is usually two triplets like this : 520-130 The first number is the pitch. We’ll explain what that means. The second number is the number of links in the chain. I don’t think w

Creative Riding EP013 - Handwriting, Hand Signs, Handkerchiefs
20/02/2016 Duração: 01h21minHello! Hello! Welcome to Episode 13. Is handwriting a fundamental skill anymore? Do we still need it in a time when everything has a keyboard attached to it? The current common core strategies that are being taught in schools don’t even address cursive writing anymore because, like calligraphy, it’s not a necessary or efficient form of communication. In the first segment we examine writing, and compare cursive writing in particular to motorcycles, since they both started their rise and evolution at roughly the same time. Handwriting teaches the fundamental skills of letter formation and gives each letter a meaning, rather than just learning where it’s position is on the keyboard. Imagine what the ABCs would sound like if a person who has only typed sang them. It would be the QWEs instead. We think that rudimentary motorcycles, like handwriting, give beginning riders and mechanics alike a good starting place to learn the basic skills and relationships that technologically-laden bikes might not. Imagine h

Creative Riding EP012- Do We Need More Police
13/02/2016 Duração: 01h26minHello all! This week we wanted to talk about technology and bike laws… you know, interesting stuff. Instead we spiraled down a worm hole that a new-to-me podcast opened under my feet! At least we had the presence of mind to finish our talk with Chris Singsime. We had a lot of dialogue to cover, and we didn’t want to just leave last weeks episode hanging’. Honee Bunzz comes over and delivers the news despite not feeling well. Thanks Honee…. my wife made you some chicken soup!! And then…..we started listening to the Two Enthusiasts podcast that is hosted by Jensen Beeler and Quentin Wilson. If you’re not familiar with Asphalt and Rubber, you should be. It’s no surprise that this podcast follows a much more linear and logical line of rhetoric than I could ever hope to muster. The editor and creator of A&R makes presenting sound as easy as he makes writing on one of the most informative motorcycle websites look. Jensen and Quentin are able to speculate and reach into a deep well of experience to make predictio

Creative Riding EP011 - Chris, Honee, Chris Chris
06/02/2016 Duração: 01h29minThis week we interview a legend from the great white north. He hails from the land of the lakes, and he makes the drag strip quake - Super fan NitrousChris joins us for an interview and I pick his brain regarding life in Wisconsin, Racing, and of course, nitrous oxide. Honey Bunzz delivers the news in front of a live audience and blows it out of the water!! I bore you to death with some VIN and model number information. Thanks to listener Aussie Chris for the suggestion! Blame him!! Just kidding - do not blame him! Finally we wrap the show with an abbreviated movie review (thanks to Aussie Chris again for the advice!) We hope you’ve enjoyed this week’s show, and please check us out here: www.creative-riding.com www.creative-riding.tumblr.com www.facebook.com/CreativeRidingPodcast/ @Creative_Rider on the twitters https://soundcloud.com/creative-riding [email protected] and search for us on iTunes!!!

Creative Riding EP 010 - "'This will be a short one.' - I said"
02/02/2016 Duração: 01h38minWelcome to episode 10! We are excited to reach our first, albeit small, milestone. Episode 10 may prove to be a shorty, or a long, drawn-out shit fest. It has been a pretty crazy week both at work and at home. It is doubtful whether this show gets out on time or not. We’ll just have to wait and see. I thought it would be interesting to have a non-rider in the studio to talk about some motorcycle related things, and get their opinion on motorcycles from a cager’s perspective. My friend Howie Bangzer was in town so we had a good ol’ sit down and talked zombies, bikes, and reviewed ICON’s “Containment Conflicts” short film. Join Honee Bunzz as she returns for another news segment. She brings you some brief updates, new bikes and recalls. Enjoy! Finally I played a game with Howie (no relation to Huell Howser!) called “Which one”. Since he is not a rider, I test his judgement and have him decide the better choice between two bike options for new riders. This show was supposed to be fast and short in leng

Creative Riding EP 009 - Honee Bunzz And Apples
24/01/2016 Duração: 01h03minEpisode 009 starts out smoother than 008. No more sickies in the house, recording equipment is back online…woot! Let’s roll!! What’s this!? About half way through recording the software takes a shit! WTF!? Enjoy this week’s news girl, Honee Bunnz. She rocks the news and we’re uber grateful to have her helping us out for this episode. What a treat. We’ll be hearing about a company called Vicis and what they’re doing for heads. Yay for random item reviews and Ferraris, and boobies. Matt Richards from Boxerworks shares a sweet little list for keeping warm while riding… hobo-style!! Very apropos for this time of year. I give a shout out to all of the listeners thus far. Without you, there wouldn’t be a reason for the show. Well, there would be… it would be so I could continue to blab into some recording equipment that I paid good money for instead of parts for my bikes! Of course you’ll hear a really shitty movie review. Wait, I don’t mean the review is shitty, I mean the movie was shitty. Unfortunately mo

Creative Riding EP008- Twenty - 'Sick'teen
17/01/2016 Duração: 01h09min2016? More like twenty sick-teen!!! Not only is there no host, the producer is as sick as a dog. Shitting and barfing all over the carpet like one too. Our Soundcloud stats have revealed a scorching reality - ranting is good, listening to the wife is (for once) bad! Our USB mic has taken a shit, so this episode is a cacophony of different sonic textures. Segment 1: Since our studio mic took a dump, the producer guy takes the field recorder into the garage and rants about IV League’s Del Mar Flat Track, wife’s advice, and “the Death Zone”, all while tearing down a Kawasaki shaft drive. Segment 2: Cleveland Moto inspired us to talk about how Honda is one brand that shakes sex appeal and character in lieu of reliability and sales performance. Despite the lack of a brand image like that of Harley-Davidson’s, Honda still manages to be 2nd in USA sales. http://clevelandmoto.blogspot.com Follow that up with the answer to the question put forth on the Motorcycle Men podcast: why won’t we ever see Harley at Dakar”?

Creative Riding EP007- 10 Things Part 2
08/01/2016 Duração: 01h01minHello all! We hope the New Year has treated you well so far. Too much e.g.g nog and snagging got you laid up in bed? Well just kick back and have a listen to episode 6 part 2!!! You’ll be peppier than a terrier with a bee up its ass in no time! We start out by finishing off the list with no.5-10 of the things that no motorcyclist can go without. My wife recently started listening to the show, so I took her advice and edited my 45 minute rant and ramble fest down to 10 minutes of nearly sensible blabber. We had some listener requests for more Krampus, but unfortunately his audio was dropped, and as you know, he only comes around during the yuletide. From WMCY, Radioblab’s Jed Abramsdad and Robert Sandwich bring you a scientific story about pumping loss, and one idiot’s journey to Las Vegas. This parody devolves into a shit skit between Andy Dick and Jay Leno. it’s fucking awful!!! Anyways - in short, pumping loss is the loss in efficiency of the piston at partial throttle or full idle. Due to the ability o

Creative Riding EP006 - 10 Things Part 1
31/12/2015 Duração: 01h06minHello and Season’s Greetings!! We here at Creative Riding hope this time of year finds you in good spirits with good friends and a good bike between your thighs! Well, Episode 6 ran so long in the tooth that it’s been split in two (like a Chipotle burrito). The guest host… well due to budgetary constraints, the guest presenter Ramona Sanders rings in the holiday cheer with an introduction to our topics: In this episode we cover some sweet tools/gear that would have made a sweet stocking stuffer or gift idea for the gear head and traveller. Did you know that the first Honda RC213V-S was sold and delivered? See the whole event at https://youtu.be/6zoVB97_EL8 Talking with a relative of mine on Christmas really opened my eyes to how (possibly) capable the “scramblers” that are being churned out actually might be. Are they viable when compared to a specifically designed dual sport? We get about half way through the list of 10 things you can’t live without before we give your ears a break. 1. Ten things you

Creative Riding EP005- Random Baloney
20/12/2015 Duração: 01h01minWelcome to episode 5!!! Host Tony-Don Clement introdu….gets knocked out! Too bad he didn’t have a Bell “KC66” Limited Edition commemorative helmet on. In this episode we discuss some news, some point of views, but not shoes. The first segment covers the Kurt Caselli Foundation. The annual Day in the Dirt at Glen Helen Raceway just passed, and it was the 3rd year honoring Kurt Caselli. The Foundation that bears his name has been making great strides for rider safety, as well as helping riders and racers keep safe throughout every step of their career. Find out more about the Foundation at: http://www.kurtcaselli.com Also check out https://www.bellhelmets.com and http://www.motionpro.com Do you live on the west coast? From Tijuana to Vancouver, if you live on the west coast (particularly California and parts of Oregon) chances are you’ve seen a hipster bike. If you’re unlucky enough to want one, you’ve also seen the price!!! In the second segment, I talk about how the latest craze of #buitlnotbought is d

Creative Riding EP004 - "CITS-IMS-tegio"
11/12/2015 Duração: 01h16minEpisode 4 notes In this episode there is no host! I was so excited about Motorcycles & Misfits accidentally following us on our sound cloud page that I forgot to call him in time to head down to the studio. : / Please visit our moto brethren and check these resources out: Motorcycles and Misfits: http://motorcyclesandmisfits.com or here: https://www.facebook.com/recyclesantacruz/ Kaufman Mercantile EDC kit: https://www.kaufmann-mercantile.com/products/edc-kit Cleveland Moto : http://clevelandmoto.blogspot.com Antigravity Batteries/Microstart: http://antigravitybatteries.com http://themicrostart.com We’re finally going to talk about CITS If you’re not familiar with C-ITS it stands for Cooperative Intelligent Transport Systems Car manufacturers have been developing technology in this field for well over a decade in an effort to make transportation of goods and people safer. Now motorcycle OEMs are participating in the development of these standards as well. Here’s an example of how it is curre

Creative Riding EP003 - Meat Horse Vs Iron Horse
26/11/2015 Duração: 53minIn this episode host Danny Hoyer walks us through some 'old' topics. Having an episode get gobbled by the software really put the show behind. Topics for the episode: “Bikers” - Do you like the term ‘Biker’? If someone calls you a biker do you feel like a badass or do you feel like you maybe skipped one too many showers? The question of ‘Bikers’ was brought up in an online discussion and it struck a chord with us at Creative-Riding. Is this term only an American stereotype? Let us know. First crash - The host shares his first crash and explains why it probably won’t be his last. No words of wisdom, just a tale of woe, and a somber change in demeanor. One more reason why the producer of the show is pro ATGATT… Do you have a funny crash story or a tale about your first crash that you want to share? e-mail it to us at: [email protected]. We also interview a dog.

Creative Riding EP002 - Oops I Did It Again
07/08/2015 Duração: 01h01minWelcome to the worst motorcycle podcast in the database. Well, we’ve done it again. Bringing you another round of monotony and mediocrity. Host Bransine Staenkweil completely disregards the show notes we had laid out for him. In this episode we talk about: Some recaps of the crappiest episode ever…episode 1! Some news and reviews AIM Expo Some new models for 2016 Ugly Bikes And to cap it off, he takes some wonderful information about C.A.F.E. standards and totally ruins it by trying to rehash what he recently learned. Only he forgets to tell you that he has ADD and he can’t formulate a linear cadence fro his topic! We hope your ears don’t bleed, and your brain doesn’t melt…but please -stick around for future episodes.
