After the family of Israel moved to Egypt, Jacob blessed his children and then died. Joseph assured his worried brothers that he forgave them and would care for them. Joseph also told them to not bury him in Canan when all Israel returned there.

Jacob brought everything he had and all of his family to Egypt, leaving nothing behind. When he arrived he found that all things had been prepared for him and his family. This was an important step in God's unfolding picture of God's plan for us.

To pray like Jesus means to pray that God will strengthen and help those around me, just as Jesus prays for Peter that he would not be sifted like wheat.

In our text for today the focus is taken off of Joseph and is fixed on his dad, Jacob. Jacob had allowed fear and doubt to extinguish his faith in God. We will see how faith is awakened as Jacob steps out and moves his family to Egypt.
