Sexual desire is good, except when it’s bad. Sex is a heart issue, one that our culture has made only physical and the consequences are devastating.

Jesus is not only concerned with our behavior but also the beliefs that drive it and the power to do it.

People gripped by God's grace (vv3-12) will be Salt & Light in this world & will be persecuted (vv11-16).

This Psalm teaches us how to handle anything in life. The reason we are overcome by life’s trauma, trials and temptations is because in the content of our self-talk we forget the Gospel (His benefits).

Nothing overcomes apathy for the Word of God like an appetite for the God of that Word. The more you are overwhelmed by the relentless love of God for you, the more you will be relentless in your love for Him & His Word.

Contentment! Everyone wants it, very few find it, the billion dollar add industry preys on our lack of it, poor men are rich with it, rich men are poor without it and it can only ultimately be found in the Good Shepherd.

Our psalm today is called a “song of ascent” or a “pilgrim song”. These songs (Ps. 120-135) were sung together with the people of God as they journeyed to Jerusalem, to take part in the Jewish feasts. Each Psalm has a theme. Psalm 130 is about Hope (waiting). In this song, the psalmist goes from the depths of despair to the mountain of hope in eight verses. It is such a glorious journey for the psalmist that he invites you along with him.

5) Knowing that God is the author of your story (Providence of God) how can you find rest in His loving & wise control even when life doesn't make sense (Rom8:28; Gen50:20; Pro3:5-6)? What does it mean to live in communion with the Holy Spirit (vv14-15; John 16:6-13; 1Cor2:10-16)? Thank God that He is not only an atoning Savior but an Authoritative Counselor. Where are you needing guidance for your life today? Pray.

The absolutely best part of being a Christian is intimacy with the Infinite! There’s nothing more soul satisfying & life liberating than to live in fellowship (friendship, relationship, intimacy) with the Creator & Sustainer of the Heavens & the Earth!

Three components to fire: Heat, Fuel & Oxygen. Heat = Holy Spirit/Word of God (Chapter 8) Fuel = Heart of Repentance (Chapters 9-10) Oxygen = Community (Chapters 11-12) Neglecting your need for community by claiming to be above it is as foolish as pretending you can live without oxygen.

Fire Components: Heat, Fuel & Oxygen. Heat = Holy Spirit/Word of God. Fuel = Heart of Repentance. Repentance is turning from sin and trusting in the Savior. (Acts3:19) It's the goodness of God that leads to repentance-which is a way of life.
