Jeremiah wrote his prophecies in a scroll and his associate Baruch read the scroll publically. King Jehoiakim cut and burned the scroll, but could not change or destroy the message of God against him. Later, in the reign of Zedekiah, the king asked Jeremiah for prayer and a secret word from God, even as the prophet was in prison.
