Ep 908 | Calling Out Cru’s LGBTQ Compromise
15/11/2023 Duração: 50minToday we're talking about Dr. Rosaria Butterfield's excellent talk at Liberty University last week, where she called out multiple Christian ministries for their weak stances on LGBTQ topics. We talk about Dr. Butterfield's five lies of our culture and why she nails the true, biblical definition of gender as well as how we should view same-sex attraction and same-sex-attracted Christians. In her talk, Dr. Butterfield called out the Revoice conference, Preston Sprinkle's Exiles in Babylon conference, and Cru (formerly Campus Crusade for Christ). We go through each of these ministries and some of what they teach about same-sex attraction and pronoun hospitality and explain why it's so important for ministries to be clear and explicit on these topics. Then, we take a look a video making the rounds on X of a woman trying to get out of a ticket because she's ... indigenous and nonbinary? Note: The Cru article mentioned is on Cru's staff site, which is only available via login for Cru staff. If you'd like to read i

Ep 907 | RFK's Feet, Baby Indi & Abortion Wins
14/11/2023 Duração: 52minToday we talk about the horrendous story coming out of the U.K. of 8-month-old Indi Gregory, who was forced off of life support by the British government despite her parents' pleas for treatment. This, unfortunately, is not a unique occurrence, as it has now happened to multiple babies and children in the U.K. The Italian government even stepped in for baby Indi, offering full citizenship and full coverage of medical expenses, only for the U.K. government to reject the offer and force her to die instead. Then, life seems to be a losing issue in Ohio and Kentucky as we review the results of the recent elections that saw big wins for abortion. We go over what this means for these states and look at the responses from those pleading for conservatives to compromise on the pro-life issue in order to actually win elections. We explain why compromising just isn't an option, especially when the other side wouldn't dream of compromising. Then, RFK Jr. was spotted recently on a flight ... barefoot? We read our official

Ep 906 | Time to Boycott Scholastic Books | Guest: Kirk Cameron
13/11/2023 Duração: 51minToday we're joined by our friend Kirk Cameron to talk about his new book, "The Fox, the Fair, and the Invention Scare," as well as the rise of inappropriate books for children in schools and why it matters to fight back. First, we recap our last conversation with Kirk, in which he declared public schools enemy number one. Is this still the case, and what should Christians who work in public schools do to combat the ever-growing hostility toward their worldview? We look at where inappropriate children's books are coming from and explain how Scholastic Books is a wolf in sheep's clothing attempting to force gender ideology books among the books we know and love. Kirk shares about his alternative to Scholastic Book Fairs, SkyTree Books Fairs, and we discuss why he feels to passionately about this subject and why it's so important for us as Christians to stand against the indoctrination of kids. We end with some encouragement on creating good soil for our children and the optimism we can have. --- Timecodes: (

Ep 905 | What's Really Going On in Israel? | Guest: Josh Hammer
09/11/2023 Duração: 01h03minToday we’re joined by Newsweek senior editor at large Josh Hammer to discuss Israel, Gaza, and the international response to the war. We start off with an explanation of why the October 7 attacks in Israel are such a big deal and why this conflict is different from other Middle East conflicts. We explain what pro-Palestinian protesters mean when they say popular mottos such as "resistance by all means" and "from the river to the sea, Palestine will be free." We also look at the rise in anti-Semitism across the world and in our back yard and look into the narrative that Israel is an evil actor in this conflict. But did the land belong to the Palestinians originally, and what does true liberation for Palestinians actually mean? We cover all this and more. --- Timecodes: (01:20) Why is Oct 7 such a big deal? Ep 904 | My Response to Andy Stanley's LGBTQ Sermon
08/11/2023 Duração: 01h03minToday is the long-awaited response to Andy Stanley's LGBTQ sermon at the Unconditional Conference. We go in-depth with what exactly Stanley said in his sermon about Christianity in relation to LGBTQ issues and "identities" and his statement that Rosaria Butterfield and Dr. Christopher Yuan, who have an abundance of wisdom on this topic, have nothing to say to parents struggling with their kids' LGBTQ "identities." But what does Stanley get wrong by claiming that homosexuality is an identity, and why does it matter? We answer these questions and underline one of LGBTQ-affirming Christianity's biggest faults. --- Timecodes: (03:43) Background (07:36) Dr. Al Mohler's WORLD (12:59) Reaction to Unconditional Conference (18:32) Response to Stanley's sermon (38:29) Laure Perry, Christopher Yuan, Rosaria Butterfield, Becket Cook (52:02) Dr. Michael Brown & Andy Stanley (56:40) Gender confusion: Stanley vs. the Bible (01:03:00) God's definition of marriage --- Today's Sponsors: A'Del — go to adelnaturalcosmetics

Ep 902 | Kat Von D on Becoming a Christian
06/11/2023 Duração: 01h15minToday we’re joined by tattoo artist and entrepreneur Kat Von D to discuss her incredible testimony of coming to faith in Christ and her ongoing faith journey. Kat explains her upbringing and how she initially rebelled against going to church because it was only something she was told to do. We take a look at her rise to fame through the shows "Miami Ink" and "LA Ink" and her interest in spiritual practices that were just methods of putting Band-Aids on a sinking ship. She recalls her journey to sobriety and how her husband helped her readjust her thinking on not just her faith but also some political topics. We discuss her viral baptism video, some of the backlash she’s gotten from both non-Christians and Christians, and how she can actually use certain aspects of her life and style to reach those who may feel ostracized by Christianity or “Christian culture.” Then, what would Kat tell those who have questions about Christianity as she did? --- Timecodes: (05:05) How Kat & Allie became friends (08:43) Kat'

We continue with a discussion about the age of the Earth and whether it actually matters to our understanding of the gospel. How do we reconcile scientific beliefs and faith, and how do we respond to those who claim Jesus didn't actually exist at all? We look at why Jesus stuck as the most significant cultural figure ever and explain how liberating his message was and is for women. We also talk about how Christianity changed the game when it came to dignifying both women and children for the first time in history. Then, we explain why mom and dad are so fundamental to a child's understanding of both social issues and the gospel. --- Timecodes: (00:50) Age of the Earth (07:05) "Jesus didn't actually exist" (11:03) Jesus was God (14:50) Evidence for Jesus being raised from the dead (17:56) Basing entire world timeline off Jesus (20:00) Message of Jesus is liber

01/11/2023 Duração: 34minToday we’re joined by professor and apologist Dr. Sean McDowell to discuss his work as a professor and how to share the truth of the gospel with the younger generations. First we discuss some of the challenges of living and teaching in a place like Southern California that is seen as a hub of secularism and progressivism. Dr. McDowell explains how in our culture, the voices from outside Christianity are encroaching more and more, and when young people aren't ready to defend their faith, it's even worse. We talk about how to approach LGBTQ issues with younger generations and why starting by asking questions is so important. We explain why, despite the importance of feelings, they don't trump truth and morality. We take a look at the creation order and whether other sentient beings can exist outside our planet. Laura shares the timeline of her hormone "treatments," double mastectomy and hysterectomy, and the moment she realized that these surgeries and treatments wouldn't actually make her a man. We discuss the common claim made by "trans" people that they are truly happier after transitioning and the truth that it's often a lie to keep up appearances and convince themselves of the lie. Laura shares her heartbreak at realizing she had lost the opportunity to have children and how God ultimately reached her at her lowest. We talk about the dignity in biblical womanhood, God's love for women, and how these truths led Laura to accept who God made her to be. 25/10/2023 Duração: 41minToday, we’re joined by detransitioner Laura Perry Smalts, author of "Transgender to Transformed: A Story of Transition That Will Truly Set You Free," to share her testimony of how she went from believing she was a man to embracing her womanhood under Christ. We start off with Laura's childhood, during which she became convinced that her mother wanted her to be a boy. This, combined with early sexual abuse and not fitting in with other girls, eventually led her to believe she needed to become a man. Laura shares how desperate she was for male attention and the extreme behavior that led her family to begin worrying, as well as the transgender support group that first convinced her to seek "trans care." We discuss how testosterone initially made her feel amazing, but she quickly realized that the more she transitioned, the more imprisoned she was and that she would never truly become a man despite going through the motions. We talk about what a "Proverbs 31 woman" actually is and why it's important to be resourceful. Then, Allie shares the story of her father getting sick with COVID, being denied certain potentially life-saving medications in the hospital, and being given a deadly medication instead that she believes ultimately led to his death. We discuss the darkness she felt in the hospital, seeing that COVID "precautions" were not about safety and empathy after all. First, we talk about how we are hardwired to connect with others and therefore why social isolation is such a powerful tool to be used against us. We look at Surgeon General Vivek Murthy's comments on the loneliness epidemic and explain that his plans for combatting loneliness actually lead us down the path of more government control and ultimately more loneliness. We explain why people get strength from the private sphere and why the government can't control us from the private sphere.
