  • U40: The Browns are the last Lincoln Riley NFL hurdle to clear

    08/01/2020 Duração: 01h12min

It's officially the first Midfirst Bank Unofficial 40 podcast of the offseason. And one NFL job after another continues to fill up. There's only one job left to be filled that still has people bringing up Lincoln Riley's name, the Cleveland Browns. The gang is not to worried. What do the boys think about the Baylor opening? What hire could be good for Baylor but bad for OU? People are getting their hopes up for staff changes this offseason, so we talk about how Riley might handle things there. And what do we think should happen with staff changes? Josh gets us back up to speed on what's left for OU heading into the final signing day and we talk some what-ifs about the future of OU's head coach if Riley does take off for the NFL someday. The full rundown follows below: 00:00 - Welcome, Welcome 5:00 - See ya, Matt Rhule 15:00 - A little Lincoln Riley talk for ya 23:00 - Any staff change rumblings? 34:00 - Recruiting. • U40: Clearing up the QB confusion, defensive recruiting picking up steam

    03/01/2020 Duração: 01h28min

Seems like it's been a while, but the full gang is back as Josh joins us from the exotic location of north Oklahoma City as he and the family and Linda are traveling for the post holiday holidays. Josh breaks down his trips to Orlando and San Antonio for All-American practices. Are the Sooners still in good shape with Reggie Grimes and Alfred Collins? What to make out of Chandler Morris' commitment and signing. Surely this shuts down all the buzz about Lincoln Riley's future for a little bit anyway? And what went wrong with Brock Vandagriff? The transfer market might be on the verge of gifting the Sooners a new wide receiver as well. We take a look at the roster as we head into the offseason and the quarterback competition that should still include Tanner Mordecai this spring. The full rundown follows below (Eddie version): 0:00 -- It's been an interesting week 4:51 -- "Chandler Morris is one of the most accurate QB I've ever coached against" 10:00 -- Brock Vandagriff fallout 24:48 -- Josh's thoughts on the

  • U40: All the media junk is over. It's time to play some football

    27/12/2019 Duração: 56min

We can't help ourselves. We just want to give you another podcast now that all media activities are finally finished from Atlanta. There's nothing left to do but play the game. So we're breaking down everything we learned this week covering OU's College Football Playoff semifinal at the Peach Bowl. It's a special edition of the Midfirst Bank Unofficial 40 podcast. What did we learn from media day? What did we learn from the final podcast? Listen in to find out.

  • U40: Your Merry Christmas pod. Why OU can beat LSU.

    25/12/2019 Duração: 01h21min

Podcast's out, are you listening? Atlanta trees, no snow glistening. We're happy to talk, practices start, podding bout CFB Playoffs. Eddie and Bob join Carey from Atlanta for a Christmas edition of the MIdfirst Bank Unofficial 40. We talk about what we've seen and heard so far in early media and practice sessions and now that we have a feel for the mindset of the Sooners, how do we see things playing out Saturday? The shock has finally worn off regarding the suspensions. How does OU overcome the losses of Ronnie Perkins and Delarrin Turner-Yell. LSU also seems to be saying all the right things, but is their defense really improving? Or did they finish off the season against a lot of bad teams? Spoiler.. they did. Merry Christmas everybody! The full rundown folllows below: OPEN - Explaining the setup this week from Atlanta/Norman 0:04:30 - OU getting banged for not being happy participants in media settings. Is that fair? 0:09:30 - Lincoln seems to be tight and a bit paranoid so far this week 0:12:50 - OU

  • U40: Signing day wrap-up and a look inside our suspension reporting

    19/12/2019 Duração: 01h17min

It's the National Signing Day wrap-up edition. On this edition of the Midfirst Bank Unofficial 40 it's all about signing day and suspensions. We breakdown the class signed by Lincoln Riley and the Sooners Wednesday and talk about nuking his signing day press conference with our news about suspensions. What stood out about this class? What coaches pulled their weight? OU lost out on Jase McClellan, but did they sign a better running back in Seth McGowan? It's a full crew for this one. We even dive into our investigation of the suspensions and how it all came to be. OPEN - Let's start off recruiting talk because we already nuked Lincoln Riley's recruiting press conference yesterday 0:04:08 - Family talk with Josh derails the recruiting talk right off the bat 0:05:15 - We dub the Reggie Grimes situation as the biggest story from signing day 0:10:00 - Alex Grinch's haul of immediate help on defense was a big storyline from signing day 0:13:00 - Is Calvin Thibodeaux the MVP position coach on defense for this cla

  • U40: Twists and turns heading to signing day? OU vs. LSU. We're set

    11/12/2019 Duração: 01h26min

Oklahoma is set for the playoffs, that much we know. But before that, we have national signing day coming up Dec. 18 and the Sooners are looking to close strong. It started last night with some late night eyeball emojis from Lincoln Riley. We also have some potential drama developing with one of OU's longest commitments. The numbers are tight for the Sooners even with former targets coming on the market late. How will Riley and the Sooners manage it. We also get into some awards circuit talk with CeeDee Lamb hoping to bring up a Biletnikoff Award and Jalen Hurts travels to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony. We also talk a little LSU preview and go back a bit to look at the Big 12 Championship game. Lots of college football talk in this one both locally and nationally on the Midfirst Bank Unofficial 40 The full rundown follows below: 00:00 - Welcome the Sooners are going to the Playoffs, again 2:00 - EYE BALLS OUT 10:30 - Jase McClellan situation; what's going on? 21:00 - Team Talk / Big 12 Championsh

  • U40: It's time for a rematch. Jim Mora, embrace the disaster.

    04/12/2019 Duração: 01h46min

The College Football Playoff committee met and deliberated for hours and could only come up with Utah's strength of Friday night losses to third string quarterbacks from USC. So yep, the Sooners didn't pass the Utes in the next-to-last rankings. But, OU still has to beat Baylor to have any chance in this thing, regardless of what happens Friday night in the Pac-12 Championship. We get our angst out on the committee and we even give an apology to Heather Dinich for also trying to get Rob Mullens to actually say why Utah is ranked ahead of OU on the teleconference. Will Parnell Motley's Bedlam performance inspire others to take over as one-man wrecking crews against Baylor Saturday morning? How will the first matchup affect the second matchup? We'll hear from Alex Grinch on that as well as some fine conversational overcussing from Ronnie Perkins from Monday night. We also dialed into the recruiting game and hit up Josh for the latest on recruiting as national signing day is coming up Dec. 18. It's the Unofficia

  • U40: Bedlam is coming. Will good Jalen or bad Jalen be joining them?

    27/11/2019 Duração: 01h48min

The Midfirst Bank Unofficial 40 Bedlam edition is here and we're ready for the regular season finale in Stillwater. The Sooners head to Oklahoma State after being revealed as the No. 7 team in the College Football Playoff rankings. But there's still that pesky problem of turnovers hanging over this OU team as they head into enemy territory. How will this OU defense fare against Chuba Hubbard. Will the loss of Spencer Sanders play that big of a role Saturday? It was a huge pod for recruiting information too as the Sooners picked up a commitment in the middle of the pod. Which also meant they lost a commitment in the middle of the pod. The pod will explain that weirdness. The gang is ready for Bedlam, but also a full slate of games in the DFW metro area that we're going to be covering this weekend. Also some turkey talk and Josh's daughter decides she wants to join the podcast at one point. Happy Thanksgiving everybody! The full, Eddie approved rundown follows below: 00:00 - Hello and welcome. It's Bedlam. 2

  • U40: Is there a path to the playoffs for OU? TCU is next

    20/11/2019 Duração: 01h30min

After the Sooners take down Baylor it's time to trek on to Week 11 and TCU. The Sooners are trying to play their way into the College Football Playoffs and Eddie says don't fear OU fans, everything will work out. Huh? We also talk about CeeDee Lamb's situation and all the rumors flying around. Not that Lincoln is hiding anything, but he doesn't do himself any favors with these conspiracy theories by being so tight-lipped on everything concerning injuries. We hit on a little bit of hoops and we talk about OU's last gameday recruiting weekend this season. What should you expect from potential visitors? Lots of weirdness in this pod as well. Eddie was on one today. The full Eddie rundown follows below: 00:00 - Opener 3:00 - Oh God. We are getting old. 7:15 - OU hoops 10:14 - LETS FOOTBALL. • U40: The one thing OU fans agree on? We all have lots of questions.

    13/11/2019 Duração: 01h28min

To say it's tough being an OU football fan over the past few weeks is an understatement. What are we even mad at right now? Fan's leaving early? Lincoln Riley's playcalling? Jalen Hurts' turnovers? Florida State wanting Bob Stoops? The playoff committee? I think the thing that's bringing everyone together is our feeling that maybe OU doesn't deserve to be in the playoffs right now. Can they turn things around at Baylor? Does this team have a complete game in them? If they do, will it be enough? I changed my mind. The one thing that is bringing OU fans together right now is that we all have so many questions about this program and this season right now. Where to start? Where to begin? Start with the MidFirst Bank Unofficial 40 podcast. The whole gang is here to walk you through it. The full rundown provided by Eddie follows: 00:00 - Welcome, welcome intro 3:00 - College Football Playoff 14:00 - Alright, let's talk about ... Oklahoma football 21:40 - Florida State and Bob Stoops is still a thing. Wild. 28:0

  • U40: Jalen Hurts and Bob Stoops make it a crazy 48 hours

    06/11/2019 Duração: 01h32min

What an interesting last few days it's been around the Scoop offices. Eddie trolls the Internet without actually doing it himself. We talk about the crazy out of context battle for the press conference future of Jalen Hurts and media at large. We also talk about how Bob Stoops somehow almost became the next head coach at Florida State but actually never did. Plenty of fired up participants in today's podcast. The first College Football Playoff rankings have been released. We talk about the path for the Sooners if they want to make it back to the CFB Playoffs. Also, huge basketball recruiting news is ready to come down next week and Josh McCuistion previews the upcoming weekend from a recruiting perspective. Oh yeah, OU is still trying to win a football game Saturday night. The full rundown as provided by Eddie follows below: 00:00 - Opening Statement(s) 02:00 - Eddie is an idiot again 07:25 - Moving on from Kansas State 28:00 - Sooners No.9 in initial CFB Playoff Rankings 40:00 - Big 12 talk 45:00 - Bob St

  • U40: Bye Week means a long look in the mirror. NCAA ready to pay for play?

    30/10/2019 Duração: 01h35min

On this episode of the Midfirst Bank Unofficial 40 Podcast, the gang recaps Lincoln Riley's bye week media press conference from yesterday. We talk about the issues facing the Sooners moving forward as well as an outlook that doesn't look nearly as dire as it did right after the loss to Kansas State. It's a big recruiting week for the Sooners as Josh and Bob talk about the early signing day schedule and how it makes life more difficult for the Sooners if they are chasing another Big 12 title. We also talk about the NCAA and what appears to be a willingness to allow players to make money of their name, likeness and image. But how is all that going to work? Lots of stuff to get through even on a bye week. The full rundown follows below: 00:00 -- Opening Statement 3:53 -- Josh weighs in on Manhattan disaster 7:05 -- Okay, let's open it up to the crew/more thoughts from Manhattan 19:35 -- Handling of the onside kick/Big 12 is dumb 24:46 -- Are you interested in a little College Football Playoff talk 28:50 --

  • U40: K-State on the road. So why are we trying to kill each other today?

    23/10/2019 Duração: 01h35min

It started out as a regular podcast. We're headed to Manhattan to watch the 7-0 Sooners take on Kansas State as a heavy favorite. We're always looking for a letdown after such a successful season to this point. With the bye week looming and Baylor on the other side, we breakdown where we see the Sooners heading into the weekend. Plenty of talk about where OU sits in the national playoff landscape and we have one of our biggest podcast fights in recent memory. We also hit the recruiting trail and talk about OU's official visitors this weekend as well as an upcoming trip to see Dontae Manning this weekend. News on Lon Kruger hosting Bryce Thompson this weekend as well. The full rundown follows below: OPEN - Josh gives his take on West Virginia and has some praise for Tre Brown 0:04:35 - WVU wasn't a pressure the QB game, but the defense still controlled the line of scrimmage 0:08:40 - Carey dives back into scheme talk and wants to set the record straight for the 100th time 0:11:30 - The last trip to Manhatta

  • U40: The goal is for the defense to show dominance against WVU

    16/10/2019 Duração: 01h34min

The full crew returns as the Sooners come off their big win over Texas. How does this team feel heading into West Virginia? The coast seems clear, but guarding against a letdown continues for the Sooners as well as LSU, Ohio State, Wisconsin and others. We talk about the defense moving forward. Austin Kendall being injured and not likely to play puts a bit of a damper on all the news surrounding the Mountaineers' return to Norman. But we will be expecting a big leap forward from the OU defense after their performance against Texas. Also, does Jalen Hurts need to rebound from Texas? Or are we being too harsh? The offensive line appears good to go after it appears they are all reaching healthy status following Texas. The full rundown is below: OPEN - Austin Kendall injury puts a damper on the WVU game this weekend 0:03:15 - Jalen Hurts trolling Mike Defee after the Texas game Saturday? 0:08:15 - Is Jalen Hurts now a delight to interview? Anybody else notice the Hurts' hand situation? We're just not talking a

  • U40: There's only one thing to talk about today: OU/TX

    10/10/2019 Duração: 01h22min

The Midfirst Bank Unofficial 40 is here for your OU/TX preview. And it appears a member of SoonerScoop will be making their first College Gameday appearance this week as Eddie Radosevich, the leader of the #HornsUpForPeace movement, filmed a segment with Gene Wojciechowski on campus. Was he kicked out of the OU football facility this week? Maybe. Josh is here as well to give his breakdown of Texas after working through the Texas/LSU game tape from earlier this season. Where do the Sooners have an advantage? Where do the Longhorns have the edge? We talk about Jalen Hurts' first trip to the Cotton Bowl for OU/TX and why we have questions about his readiness in this game even after he's played in so many big games throughout his career. There's also a recruit that could be swayed by this weekend's game in Dallas. Josh talks the latest in recruiting while Carey and Eddie are here for all of it as well. Sit back, start up this week's episode and enjoy! The full rundown follows below: OPEN: Jalen Hurts is willing

  • U40: OU is playing Kansas. So we talked a lot about Texas and hand gestures

    02/10/2019 Duração: 01h44min

The Sooners take on Kansas this week in Lawrence. And since we don't play for the Sooners, we didn't pay a lot of attention to Kansas in this week's podcast. Instead we talked about gateway hand gestures with the #HornsUpForPeace organizer Eddie Radosevich. We also talk about the state of the Big 12, the state of Oklahoma in the College Football Playoff, when it's OK to start claiming the defense is better this year along with plenty of recruiting insight from Josh McCuistion. A lot of non-Kansas talk in this edition of the Midfirst Bank Unofficial 40 podcast. But some Kansas talk. But not a lot of Kansas talk. The full rundown follows below: OPEN - So it's going to be raining in Lawrence this weekend? 0:07:00 - We start looking at the latest in the Big 12, starting with Iowa State. Is OSU clearly one of the top 3 teams? 0:10:30 - OU's toughest games remaining 0:13:10 - Does OU have to win every game to make the playoffs? 0:16:40 - OU heads to Kansas without having any flat performances so far. Flat watch?

  • U40: It got weird with Trejan Bridges and Big 12 play begins

    25/09/2019 Duração: 01h18min

Big 12 play gets underway for Oklahoma this weekend as Texas Tech comes to town. We talk about the state of the Sooners' defense after speaking with Alex Grinch this week as well as the semi-bizarre situation involving a potential move to safety for Trejan Bridges. It just got a little weird with Lincoln this week. As always we find things to pick apart on the offense. Josh also learns us the latest in recruiting and a weekend that could turn out pretty big for the Sooners. The full rundown follows below: OPEN - We go right into the Bridges position change weirdness this week 0:07:00 - Alex Grinch just spilled the beans on Bridges like a normal person 0:12:20 - Pat Fields talks about impressions of Bridges looking at defense 0:15:10 - Bridges' defensive background in high school 0:19:45 - Grinch still not finding backups at safety? 0:27:05 - Calum Sutherland's punishment for public intox 0:28:40 - Big 12 becomes the real proving ground for this defense moving forward 0:34:50 - Is Eddie a savant when it come

    18/09/2019 Duração: 01h38min

Bill Bedenbaugh was in a much better mood this week after the OL performance against the Bruins. Alex Grinch talks about the method behind his substitutions. We also breakdown the most glaring issue on defense heading into the conference opener: safety play. Could changes be on the horizon? Is OU about to get another commitment? Aaryn Parks is set to announce. All of that and more on this week's Unofficial 40. The full rundown follows below: OPEN - There's an Internet full moon happening. • U40: OU heads to UCLA trying to avoid a letdown

    11/09/2019 Duração: 01h18min

The Sooners travel to UCLA and the OU coaches have been working hard this week to try and avoid a letdown to the 0-2 Bruins. Bill Bedenbaugh was not happy with his offensive line after South Dakota and he let his displeasure be known with the media yesterday. Erik Swenson was noticeably struggling on the TV broadcast and the Sooners are trying to find answers on the OL. The entire game is back this week with a new Midfirst Bank Unofficial 40 Podcast. That's right, new title sponsor jumping on board. Josh and Bob also catch you up on the latest recruiting news after a small visit weekend and OU might have a straggler. 04/09/2019 Duração: 01h39min

So many things came out of OU's 49-31 season opening win over Houston Sunday. Jalen Hurts made all the headlines, but it's what Kenneth Murray could represent that makes this Sooner team truly dangerous. Hear from Alex Grinch and Kenneth Murray on his season opening performance and why the guys think it was so crucial. We also talk plenty about Jalen Hurts and the OU offense. We breakdown the performances of the freshmen and why Jadon Haselwood made the quickest impact.
