The original idea for episode 38 was to have a 3-way conversation with Don Jamieson (That Metal Show/MetalBlade Records) and Alex Grossi (Quiet Riot). However just like Guns N' Roses, not everything goes according to plan, but it's gunna be fun! Both are currently on tour with Dizzy Reed's band, Hookers N' Blow. First we speak with comedian Don Jamieson, who along with Eddie Trunk and Jim Floretine, famously interviewed Axl Rose on VH1's That Metal Show. We discuss the interview, comedy, and what Steven Adler means to him. Joining mid-show, Alex Grossi calls in. Don and Brando first have some fun at Alex's expensive for being late. With the recent celebration of Appetite for Destruction turning 30 years old, we could think of no better guest than one of the unsung heroes who made that album what it was, Mr. Chris Weber. You may not know, but Chris is credited as a co-writer on "Anything Goes" from GN'R's classic debut, as well as "Move to the City" and "Reckless Life." We talk about Hollywood Rose, the band Chris played guitar in alongside Axl Rose and Izzy Stradlin before Guns N' Roses was even a thing, his band U.P.O that formed many years later, and his job now working as a therapist. He drops a LOT of gems from his days with Axl and Izzy that you have never heard before, so you do not want to miss this. As some of you may recall, early on in this show’s history when we were first getting started, a journalist by the name of Art Tavana got in touch with us and said he really enjoyed what we did and had some great stories to share. Some of those stories included an incredibly in-depth piece he was working on for LA Weekly on the whereabouts of reclusive guitarist Izzy Stradlin (which has since been published and very well received,) and being right there in the thick of the reunion. It was an honor to have Dave Kushner join us for this episode, you know him as the guitarist for Velvet Revolver, but he's also played with Danzig, Dave Navarro, and earlier on in his career with hardcore punk band Wasted Youth. Along with being a diehard Springsteen fanatic, Jim is a true fan of Guns N’ Roses who’s seen the band live during the Use Your Illusion era, and has stuck with them for the many incarnations of the band. He gives his thoughts on what’s impressed him throughout the years and made him stick around for life. In this episode we discuss some news in the GN’R world, our thoughts on some of the members outside projects, as well as the band taking political stances on stage.
