How do we gain control when we feel like our life is out of control?Pastor Adam Smallcombe kicked off our new year with a new series, Free Destined, on God’s sovereignty and human decision. Nothing happens without God’s permission, God’s foreknowledge, and God’s will. God is in control. So how does our free will work with His foreknowledge? While God is in control, He’s not controlling. God has given us control of some things. Anxiety and worry may creep in, when there are things beyond your control. Find peace in knowing God has predestined us for a purpose and His will not return void. Your situation may not change but God will allow the situation to change you. The biblical idea of predestination has less to do with a destination and more to do with destiny. Less to do with where you’ll end up but with who you’ll be when you get there. So pick a destination and watch what God will do in you on the way to the destination.

Do you believe in destiny?Instead of looking back on 2022, what are you wishing for in the New Year? What better way to start a new year than to step into our purpose and destiny? Pastor Adam Smallcombe sets us up for 2023, and charges us as believers to step into the fullness of our destiny. So why does God choose the people He chooses? Better than asking the question, “WHY?” the real question is “WHAT FOR?” As the Church, we are God’s workmanship, which puts more emphasis on God in the equation of our destiny. We were not created by good works but FOR good works. Good works speak to God’s sovereign plan. It’s up to us to put it to work.

What is a soul worth? How do you appraise the worth of a soul? In this week’s message, Global Lead Pastor Adam Smallcombe unpacks a line from the Christmas Carol, O Holy Night, “… and the soul felt its worth.” Your soul care is important, it can be shaped and formed. How you handle your soul is up to you. While we were weak, Christ died for us. We look at value by comparing ourselves to others. What makes us valuable to God is that we are marked by our Maker. Only the One who gave it all can determine what it’s worth. When you have self-worth, it changes your outcome in life. When we understand our worth, and the price paid for saving us, it should change our perspective of ourselves. It is God who gives us worth, and we get to add value by putting our worth to work for a greater purpose

Have you ever thought, “If only I was [       ]… THEN I can be used by God.” How might we be disqualifying ourselves from what God, in His grace, has chosen us to become?In the third installment of Only the Church, we continue to see that Onlyº has degrees to it.
