Rob kicks off season two of our Pivot series, recapping where we've been and covering Acts 13. We’ll follow Paul’s first missionary journey for guidance on how we can love people who pivot towards and away from Jesus.

Each year leads us to both lament and thanksgiving, as followers of Jesus, we hold both of these things in tension and find joy in-between them. We hope this message encourages you to view 2021 as a new morning, a new gift, and another opportunity to find joy in the steadfast love of the Lord.

A Christmas message from our Lead Pastor, Rob McDowell, taught from Luke 2:1-20. The story of Christmas is only the beginning, are we willing to hit “play next episode” on what God is doing in the local church today?

Rob goes through one of the most beloved and recorded songs, O Holy Night, using Luke 2:1-12 as our guide.

NMC”s Discipleship Pastor, Matt Johnston, continues in our Christmas Carols series with an entire orchestration: Handel’s Messiah. This piece brilliantly tells, not only of the birth of Jesus the Messiah, but of all the Old Testament prophecies and promises leading up to it, the redemptive work Jesus would go on to do, and the resurrection and ultimate victory of Jesus.

This week, we kick off the series by looking at one of the most hauntingly beautiful Christmas Carols we sing this time of year: “O Come O Come Emmanuel.” And in this, we will see that, throughout Scripture, and throughout our lives, the Lord is near and known, He is for and with us, and he evens dwells within and among us. So in this difficult year, we can take hope and confidence in the fact that the Lord is near.

Groups Pastor Daniel Hicks sets up the message in Acts 12:1-4 and has a friend-to-friend conversation about creating space to process and get perspective amidst difficulty.

Our Online Campus Pastor, Justin Woelk, closes out Acts chapter 11 with a big pivot for the church that reminds us that God is working while we’re waiting.

In this section of Acts, 10:1–11:18, we’ll see God move through two men, Peter and Cornelius, and learn a few things from each as we’re on our spiritual walk with Him.

Rob and Matt work together this week as we open Scripture to zoom in on what it means to be a disciple and what becoming a disciple looks like for us today.

Opening up to Acts 9:1-31, Saul moves from persecuting Christians to speaking boldly about Jesus, the Son of God. We will see here that no one is too bad or too broken to be reconciled to God. 

In Acts 8 we see Philip the evangelist listening to God’s call and following it, even if it meant getting out of his comfort zone. We’ll walk through the Scripture and learn from Philip how we too can help others find and follow Jesus.

This week, we’re picking up in Acts 6:8-8:3 and looking at the story of Stephen, one of the first Tablesetters of the Church and the first martyr of the Jesus movement. This passage is not only one of the most profound events in the Book of Acts, but it is also a pivot point for the rest of the Book of Acts. As we look at this narrative, we will learn from what Stephen has to say as he is put on trial for his allegiance to Jesus and we will see what motived Stephen to so faithfully follow, even in the midst of persecution.

We’re back in our Pivot series with Acts 6:1-7. We’ll see here, that the church’s growth had happened so rapidly that others were needed to help the Apostles carry out the mission. This is the section of Scripture where we get the word we use a lot around NMC, Tablesetters.

Student Pastor, Matt Johnston, continues on in our Pivot series looking at Acts 5:33-42, one of the most iconic and ironic passages in the Book of Acts. And, as we look at this text, we will be encouraged to see God’s plan unfold both then, continuing today, and moving into the future. 

In Acts 5:29 Peter and the apostles reply “We must obey God rather than human beings!" Rob uses this verse as a starting point to see what the Word says on Who is really in control, who we are, and why we are here.

So far, almost all of what we've looked at in this series has been uplifting and encouraging. This week, well, the tone takes a different direction as we see members of the early church hiding and lying to God for the sake of their own praise.

This week we explore the first recorded prayer of the church in Acts. As we take a look at what they prayed for, we will be encouraged to see how their prayer has impacted us today and we will be challenged to think about pivoting our own prayers. 

In Acts chapter 3, we will see a clear picture of the Lord’s kindness, faithfulness, and promises as we look back at what has been done, look at what the Lord is doing in our lives, and look forward to what the Lord has promised to do in the future. This is where we find our hope. And in this difficult season, we want to encourage all of you to pivot your perspective to see the Lord’s ongoing work in the world and in our lives.

Jumping back into the book of Acts in Acts 2:42-47. We'll see how the Holy Spirit pivoted the early church's direction, devoting themselves to look more like Jesus, in turn, preparing them to help others follow Jesus.
