Episode 3 of our new series on World Football Index takes a look at the fascinating story of Ecuador qualifying for the 2002 World Cup - their first ever. They booked their passage to Japan by claiming a 1-1 home draw against Uruguay in Quito, a match our special guest Tim Vickery attended. Also joining us on this show is Xavier Zavala, WFI’s resident Ecuadorian football expert who gives us his experience as a passionate football fan who had never seen his nation qualify for a World Cup before. Campana was top scorer at the U20 South American Championships in 2019 and formed a key part of the Ecuador team that finished 3rd in the world later that year. Campana has signed for Wolves since this pod was record on the 14th January 2020. They discuss the fairly unique background of the Ecuadorian striker as well as his attributes.
