I've been meaning to do a podcast on corruption in Brazil for all the Brazilian students learning English, this topic made me pull the trigger. In today's podcast we discuss a recent scandal which ended up in a Brazilian politician getting egged at her wedding. Listen to the conversation one time, just to get the general idea, then listen a second time and take notes or re-listen to segments that are difficult to hear. I stumbled upon some disturbing news stories about military spending and couldn't get it out of my mind, so today Mrs.P and I debate the topic. Apparently the U.S spends more money on military then the next 15 biggestmilitary spenders  combined... what a beautiful world. Sometimes we just need to talk about silly topics.... today on the podcast Jonathan Burello is back. He and I discuss a Japanese island that was recently made a UNESCO island.. which sounds like it's important. But there's a few peculiarities about this island and how they manage it. If you're listening to this podcast to work on your English and to grow your fluency, be sure to listen to it a few times. First to get the general idea, a second time to notice areas where you don't understand the speech or are missing words and re-listen to those areas, and then you can even read along with the transcript,  or even shadow us to practice your speaking. Happy weekend everyone! Today on the Uncensored English podcast we discuss some drama that happened as a result of Wednesdays podcast. So if you didn't listen to the fat shaming podcast on Wednesday go back and do that first. I've been posting the Uncensored English podcasts on the Italki discussion forum recently to give English learners some challenging and thoughtful material to listen to and work on their English. Today on the Uncensored English podcast we talk about a current social issue which has garnered a lot of attention, fat shaming, which I hope isn't as common as the internet makes it out to be, and fat acceptance, which is a little more complicated then it sounds. Alex is a fast talker so don't be hard on yourself if it's hard to pick up some things he says, listen to the podcast a few times and digest it. He and I discuss these topics in length, this one is a little longer than usual. Summer's almost over... at least in Canada, and for many people that means back to school. But for some people, it means back to school... in their house. Today on the podcast Mrs.P joins us to talk about something that I always thought was weird as hell, home schooling. Are you learning English? Are you improving your English with hopes of moving to Canada? You've heard it's a great country to live in, did you know it was Canada day on July 1st? Not just any Canada day, it was the 150th celebration of Canada day. This holiday was marked by an unusual amount of turmoil on social media and today Edward and I discuss this topic as well as another controversial blunder made by some "royal" visitors. If you're taking your English seriously I encourage you to listen to this podcast once without the transcript, jot down notes when you hear new words or expressions that are of interest to you.
